The U13s are managed by Peter Lake ably assisted by Andy Bruton.  Between them, Pete and Andy have lots of playing and coaching experience and are a great team – just like Batman and Robin (or if you parents want a football analogy then Saint and Greaves – actually they’re about the same age as well (but don’t tell them that we said so)).  The U13’s train at Worthing Road Rec on a Monday evening from 6:30 – 7:45pm.  They’re a friendly bunch and as well as training hard they have lots of fun.  League matches are played on a Sunday morning, again at Worthing Road Rec.  Why not come along or use the ‘Contact Us’ page to get in touch.  We are proud to be sponsored this year by F A Holland.

Highdown Saints U12's 2 - Rustington Park Youth Select 1
Not only was this HDS U12's first match of the season, it was the first time that they had played together as a team and for 2 of the new players, Alan Ahmet and Kiel Springer, it was the first time that they had played league football so to get a 2 -1 result against the experienced RPYS U12's was a fantastic achievement.
HDS started off the match well, passing and playing as a team and were unlucky to go 1 - 0 down from a RPYS shot that both goalie Tyler Widdows and defender Jamie Lewis tried desperately to stop going in.  However, going 1 - 0 down seemed to spur on HDS and 5 mins later, Sam McDonagh, from the edge of the box lobbed the goalie to make it 1 - 1.  HDS continued to look dangerous with some excellent through balls from the defence and midfield latched on to by Connor Murray who had some great shots on target.  At times there appeared to be 2 Sam McDonaghs on the pitch as he covered defence, midfield and attack.
In the second half Rory Kanokvichitra went from clearing a RPYS shot to playing a great through ball to Connor Murray to beat the off side trap and then casually lob the goalie to make it 2 - 1 to HDS.  Connor could have had a 2nd when Jack Badman passed to Connor whose lob only just went wide.  Bradley Fletcher made an impressive debut for HDS with some crucial interceptions and as always, the defence of Jamie Lewis and Ellis Fuller were solid and Tyler Widdows goalie hands make safe work of any attacks that got as far as him.  Mention must also go to Ollie Bruton who worked very hard in the first half.

Highdown Saints U12's 0 - Rustington Otters Youth U12's 3
The first half of the HDS game against ROY saw HDS have the majority of the possession with the ROY goalie having to pull off saves from shots from Rory K, Sam McDonagh, Bradley Fletcher, Connor Murray and Daniel Abreu.  The 2 centre backs of Jamie Lewis and Ellis Fuller were as solid as ever and they were helped by Tyler Widdows and Alan Ahmet who both made some timely tackles and Ollie Bruton in goal who made sure that the ball ended up safe in his hands.  At 1/2 time the score was 0 - 0.  ROY came out for the second half very determined but it was HDS who had the best chance early on with a lob from Sam McDonagh again producing an excellent save from the ROY goalie.  A 10 min spell of pressure from ROY saw them score 3 quick goals, all generated from long goal kicks with shots going high in to the goal. Connor Murray found the back of the ROY net but the goal was ruled off side.  Towards the end of the match the ROY goalie was kept very busy but HDS just couldn't get that ball past him and in to the back of the net and the final score was 3 - 0 to ROY.

Highdown Saints U12's 3 - Worthing Town Youth B 1
The U12's started the match very positively with possession kept in the WTY half.  The couple of chances that WTY had were confidently cleared by the HDS defence of Ellis Fuller, Jamie Lewis, Simon H and Dylan de Temple and any shot that got through them was expertly dealt with by goalie Matthew Languish.  Rory K, Connor Murray and Sam McDonagh all combined well and caused the WTY goalie to make lots of saves.  Bradley Fletcher and Daniel Abreu did well in midfield and it was against the run of play that just before half time WTY scored from a very well taken free kick.  HDS came out determined in the second half and their pressure paid off when a shot by Rory K that went through a number of defenders was picked up by Connor Murray who scored. Tyler Widdows, playing in defence in the second half made some crucial interceptions.  Soon after the first HDS goal Ben Reed passed to Connor Murray who coolly rounded the goalie and slotted the ball in to the open net.  The third goal game when Jamie Lewis passed to Connor Murray whose cross to Rory K was intercepted by a defender whose shot went to the left of his keeper and in to his own goal.  It was a solid HDS performance with the second half subs of Kurtis Wells, Jack Badman and Ollie Bruton all fitting in well.

Highdown Saints U12's 1 - Worthing United Youth B 4
HDS started their league game against WUY B very promisingly, with a goal within the first 5 minutes when Sam McDonagh passed the ball over the top of the defence to Connor Murray who lobbed the goalie.  Rory K saw his cross go right across the goal and Ben Reed had a shot saved by the WUY B goalie.  Unfortunately HDS slack marking was punished 10 mins in when a WUY B forward had time to lob Matthew Languish in the HDS goal to make it 1 - 1.  10 mins later a defensive clearance by HDS went straight to a WUY B forward whose shot went in to the corner of the goal to make it 1 - 2 to WUY B.  Bradley Fletcher and Tyler Widdows battled hard in midfield and just before half time a throw in by Sam McDongah was headed on by Bradley Fletcher to Rory K whose shot hit the cross bar.  Ellis Fuller and Jamie Lewis played solidly in defence, helped by Dylan de Temple and Alan Ahmet.  Matthew Languish made some great saves in the HDS goal.  Shortly after the start of the second half, a shot by Connor Murray hit the cross bar and the follow up by Ben Reed was saved by the WUY B goalie.  A long goal kick by the WUY B goalie ended 2 moves later in another goal for the opposition.  Once again the post kept out a shot by Bradley Fletcher and a curling free kick by Jamie Lewis was caught by the goalie.  HDS again were punished for taking their eye off the ball and 10 mins before full time WUY B scored again.  Jack Badman and Ollie Bruton came on in the second half and in the final moments Ollie Bruton saw his shot saved by the WUY B goalie but the final score remained 1 - 4 to WUY B.

Challenge Cup Round 2

Highdown Saints U12's 4 - Worthing Town Youth B 0
An excellent display of teamwork saw HDS U12's beat Worthing Town Youth B by 4 goals to 0 to progress through to the next round of the Challenge Cup. HDS were rarely troubled by WTYB as the midfield of Sam McDonagh, Bradley Fletcher, Ben Reed and Rory K won the majority of the battles and any balls that did manage to get through were easily dealt with by the defence of Grant Holdaway, Ellis Fuller, Jamie Lewis, Dylan de Temple and goalie Matthew Langrish.  Rory K and Connor Murray worked well together and passes between them resulted in the WTYB goalie having to make saves early on.  The first goal came after 15 mins when a well executed lob by Sam McDonagh found Connor Murray who slipped the ball under the WTYB goalie. Ben Read and Tyler Widdows kept the WTYB defence busy but it was Rory K who picked up a through ball, shot and scored the second goal.  The second half saw a number of changes with Curtis Wells, Jack Badman and Ollie Bruton all coming on.  5 mins in to the second half Sam McDonagh passed the ball to Tyler Widdows who took the ball forward and saw his shot go in to the bottom left hand corner for goal number 3.  The fourth and final goal came when Ellis Fuller skilfully lobbed the WTYB players and as also, Connor Murray was on the end to lob the goalie.

Highdown Saints U12's 7 - Arundel Colts 0
Against 9 men Arundel, HDS knew that they had a good chance of scoring goals and neat passing from the kick off led to a cross from Jamie Lewis which Ben Reed decisively volleyed home.  1 - 0 to HDS.  Sam McDonagh latched on to a Jamie Lewis free kick but saw his shot hit the side netting and then again, from a Bradley Fletcher pass, Sam's shot just went over the top of the goal.  However, it was a pass from Sam to Connor Murray who took the ball round the goalie to slot the ball home for goal number 2.  Alan Ahmet worked well on the right to stop any Arundel Colts attacks down that side with Ellis Fuller covering the middle and Grant Holdaway the left.  Simon Hikulskis and Curtis Wells made some important interceptions.  Sam McDonagh finally got his goal, and HDS's 3rd, when he chased a ball from a mid field pass and lobbed the goalie.  The 4th goal soon followed when a long goal kick from Matthew Langrish was picked up by Rory K who put the ball on to his shooting foot and calmly lobbed the goalie.  4 - 0 at half time to HDS.

In the second half Ben Reed and Bradley Fletcher dominated the mid field and played some excellent through passes which resulted in attempts on goal from Tyler Widdows, Connor, and Sam.  Defender Ellis Fuller, not wanting to miss out on a chance of a goal, made a superb run from deep in his own half and saw his shot go just wide of the goal.  However, 2 quick goals from Arundel Colts brought HDS back to earth and a pass from Tyler to Rory resulted in a goal and again a pass from Tyler to Connor who saw his shot saved by the goalie but only as far as to Sam who tapped it in for goal number 6.  Both Bradley and Jamie had shots that went wide and a cross by Bradley beat the goalie and was slotted home by Rory to give him his hatrick and make a final result of 7 - 2 to HDS.
After the match the referee commented on what a pleasure it had been to referee the game and how all the players were a credit to both their teams.

Highdown Saints U12's 3 - Bourne Sports - 5
HDS U12’s played their second round cup game not only against a team (Bourne Sports) from the division above them but with a number of players having to play new positions (including a stand-in goalie).  Despite the midfield and the forwards working well and creating a number of chances, HDS soon found themselves 0 – 2 down.  Bourne Sports second goal seemed to spur HDS on and shots from Connor Murray, Rory K, Sam McDonagh and Bradley Fletcher forced saves from the Bourne Sports goalie.  Against the run of play Bourne Sports scored a third goal.  Tyler Widdows then took the bit between his teeth, went past 2 defenders and slid the ball past the goalie – 1 - 3.  The second half saw a superb team performance from HDS.  Jamie Lewis pulled off a number of excellent saves and Ellis Fuller was solid in defence, this week helped magnificently by Grant Holdaway and Curtis Wells.  Ben Reed battled for everything in midfield and Jack Badman made some telling tackles.  For the second time in the match, Bourne Sports scored against the run of play (1 - 4), but HDS quickly responded this time with results.  Rory K flicked the ball through to Connor Murray whose shot went over the goalie and into the goal – 2 - 4.  The forwards and midfield continued to chase after every loose ball and were soon rewarded when a shot from Sam McDonagh found the back of the net.  With 10 minutes to go and at 3 - 4 it was certainly game on and despite HDS trying so hard to get that goal which would have forced extra time it was Bourne Sports who scored and at 3 - 5 with 2 minutes left it was all over for HDS.  This was the best performance this season from the U12’s.

HDS were clearly still suffering the after affects of the Christmas Party as after last week's fantastic performance, this week's game was a bit lacking.  HDS had some early chances with Sam Donagh making an individual run only to see his shot saved by the goalie and a free kick from Rory K found Sam's head but again the shot was saved by the goalie.  Standing in for the second week, Jamie Lewis made some good saves in the HDS goal but was beaten after 10 mins by a WMA shot that soared into the top right hand corner of the goal.  0 - 1.  Rory K and Tyler Widdows linked up well and Simon Hikulskis battled in midfield.  Bradley Fletcher worked hard throughout the game making sure that not only was he in control in the midfield but also coming back to help the defence.  Nearing half time WMA beat the HDS offside trap and an excellent shot found the corner of the HDS goal.  0 - 2.  In the second half Ben Reed, in midfield, made some solid blocks of the ball and then fed it through to the forwards.  10 minutes in to the second half Sam passed to Rory who laid the ball off to Bradley who hit the ball sweetly down the middle above the goalkeeper's head.  1 - 2.  Ellis Fuller and Grant Holdaway in defence made some telling tackles and Dan Timblick coolly dealt with the WMA forwards.  Alan Ahmet and Ollie Bruton played some excellent through balls from the midfield and Alan struck a great spinning shot that the WMA goalie did well to save.  Despite HDS starting to work as team, WMA twice exposed holes in the HDS defence and twice were rewarded by goals.  Final score 1 - 4 to WMA.

Having not played a game for a month it took HDS the first 10 mins to get in to their stride and unfortunately by this time they were 0 - 2 down.  However, from this point on the HDS midfield of Alan Ahmet, Ben Read, Bradley Fletcher and Tyler Widdows dominated and started feeding balls through to Rory K and Connor Murray up front.  It wasn't long before this hard work was rewarded when Tyler Widdows went past one WUY defender and coolly placed the ball in the corner of the goal.  1 - 2.  The defence of Ellis Fuller, Daniel Timblick, Grant Holdaway and Dylan de Temple made some very telling tackles and any balls that did get past them were expertly dealt with by Jamie Lewis (standing in as goalie).  Towards the end of the first half Rory K saw his free kick bounce under the WUY goalie to make it 2 - 2.  The second half started well for HDS with all areas of the team linking and passing well.  Ollie Bruton came on and in to the midfield and Connor and Jamie swapped roles.  However, three quarters of the way through this half WUY scored 2 quick goals and despite HDS battling for everything it remained 2 - 4 to WUY.  HDS can take heart from a great team performance and there will definitely be wins to come this second half of the season.

HDS were fired up for this game against rivals RPYS and all their hard work in training recently paid dividends today.  Right from the start forwards Rory K, Connor Murray and Tyler Widdows linked up well with some nice one-two passing which caused the RPYS defence to work hard.  Bradley Fletcher blocked everything in the midfield and fed the ball forward.  The opening goal came from a Rory K special free kick that sailed past the RPYS defence and goalie and in to the back of the net.  The second goal soon followed when Connor passed to Tyler who coolly slotted the ball past the RPYS goalie 2 - 0.  Jamie Lewis in the HDS goal was hardly troubled as his defence of Ellis Fuller, Dylan de Temple, Dan Timblick and Grant Holdaway made telling tackles and cleared well.  Just before half time Rory slid the ball to Connor who placed it in the bottom right hand corner of the goal to make it 3 - 0.  In the second half Kiel Springer came on in defence and with his pace got to any loose ball first.  Ben Reed battled well in midfield and he and Bradley felt confident enough to move the ball forward and both had shots on goal that just narrowly missed the target.  Alan Ahmet also made an appearance and soon got stuck in.  Sam McDonagh started taking on the RPYS defence and saw a great volley just go wide.  Three quarters of the way through the second half Tyler made sure that a Connor Murray shot ended up in the back of the net by sliding it in to make it 4 - 0.  In the dying minutes a superb lob by Bradley was saved by the RPYS goalie.  A magnificent team performance and not only a great win but a clean sheet as well.  Well done lads.

Highdown Saints U12s 0 - Lancing Rangers 7

The score line does not reflect the closeness of this game and with top of the table Lancing Rangers expecting to score into double figures this was a good result for HDS and better than the 0 - 9 score line from the first half of the season.

HDS were unfortunately 0 - 4 down in the first 20 mins and it took them this long to take shape.  Defenders Dylan de Temple, Grant Holdaway and Daniel Timblick all had to work hard, with captain Ellis Fuller taking the lead in this area.  Jamie Lewis in goal pulled off as many good saves as goals that went in from Lancing Rangers strikers who were experts at angling the ball in to all 4 corners of the goal.  Bradley Fletcher in midfield gave 100% and blocked everything that came his way.  The second half of the first half saw HDS holding their own with Kiel Springer chasing everything, Sam McDonagh putting the tackles in and Ben Reed being solid.  Rory K had a shot saved and as soon as the ball was fed though to Connor Murray he found 3 defenders on him.  Towards the end of the first half Lancing Rangers scored again and it remained 0 - 5 at half time.

The second half saw Alan Ahmet come on in defence and get stuck in straight away and Curtis Wells go up front.  The whole team refused to drop their heads, their work rate didn't faulter and it took Lancing Rangers 20 mins until they were once again able to break down the HDS midfield and defence but when they did they scored 2 goals in quick succession.  HDS were very unlucky not to be given a penalty when Sam McDonagh was brought down in the area and he saw his subsequent free kick just go wide.  At full time it was 0 -7.  HDS knew that this was going to be a tough game, it was, but once they got in to their stride they battled well and can take heart from their performance.

Yes, 10 - 0 to the U12's - what a result !!!!  Obviously muddy and boggy conditions suit their style of football !!!  Goal Scorers were: Tyler Widdows (3), Connor Murray (2), Bradley Fletcher (2), Kiel Springer (2), Alan Ahmet (1)

Right from the kick-off, Highdown Saints were passing the ball well amongst themselves and putting the Pagham Youth B defence and goalkeeper under a lot of pressure.  5 mins in, Bradley Fletcher lobbed the ball over the PYB defence to Connor Murray who was fouled in the area.  Connor then calmly put away the resulting penalty - 1 - 0.  Connor and Tyler Widdows linked well up front with Bradley confidently taking the ball forward.  Tyler was denied by the post and Connor's lob was saved when the tall PYB GK jumped high to catch the ball.  It took another 15 mins before HDS found the net again and this was then followed by another 4 goals in quick succession.  Ben Read passed to Connor who passed to Kiel Springer who, standing right in front of the goal was able to place the ball past the GK.  2 - 0.  A pass from Tyler to Connor resulted in goal number 3 and a fantastic lob from outside the area by Bradley went over the GK (much to Bradley's surprise and delight) for goal number 4.  Bradley took on 2 of the PYB defenders and then passed to Connor who then found Tyler who slotted the ball home.  5 - 0.  Just before half time Connor slid the ball across the PYB goal and there was Kiel to get on the end of it to tap it in.  6 - 0.  Jamie Lewis in the Highdown Saints goal was only called on twice to make saves in the first half and any ball that did venture past the solid midfield of Sam McDonagh, Bradley Fletcher and Rory K was then expertly dealt with by defenders Ellis Fuller, Daniel Timblick, Alan Ahmet and Ben Read.

The second half saw subs Dylan de Temple, Ollie Bruton and Grant Holdaway come on and chances continued to be created by HDS.  15 mins in a corner from Sam connected with Bradley at the near post who slid the ball in to the net.  7 - 0.  Alan Ahmet came up from defence and followed in after a shot was saved by the PYB GK to make it 8 - 0.  Tyler then slid the ball past the GK and then from a pass from Rory found the back of the net again to make his hatrick and 10 - 0 to HDS.

Highdown Saints U12's 3 - Selsey Seals 2

This was a game fought between two evenly matched sides.  Highdown Saints started confidently with a shot from Tyler Widdows 2 minutes in just going wide.  At the other end defender Ellis Fuller and goal keeper Jamie Lewis combined well to keep the ball out of the Highdown Saints' net.  Throughout the game defender Daniel Timblick made some excellent interceptions and Rory K's long throw ins and accurate corners troubled the Selsey Seals defence and goalkeeper.  Early on Sam McDonagh saw his shot saved by the SS GK.  Bradley Fletcher dominated the midfield, with some skilful touches and battled for everything, ably helped by Ben Reed.  15 mins in Highdown Saints were rewarded when a SS defender put the ball past his own GK, 1 - 0 to Highdown Saints.  However, SS immediately broke and their neat passing caught the whole of the Highdown Saints team napping and ended up in a goal, 1- 1.  Connor Murray found the back the back of the net but he was ruled to be offside and so the goal was disallowed.  Bradley Fletcher, from a difficult angle, brought a save from the SS GK.  30 mins in a SS forward was allowed a free shot which went past Jamie in goal to make it 1 - 2.  A long throw in from Rory found Connor who saw his shot go just over the top of the goal and it remained 1 - 2 at half time.

A motivational speech by Highdown Saints manager Peter Lake at half time inspired the U12's who came out in the second half and showed renewed spirit.  Connor caused the SS GK to make 3 saves early on and then a deep Rory corner found Bradley who slotted the ball home to make it 2 - 2.  Sam, Bradley and Rory all had shots but connecting with a Rory corner Sam's shot (which was going goalward) was flicked in to the back of the net by an SS defender to make it 3 - 2.  Tight defending by Ellis, Daniel, Grant Holdaway and Alan Ahmet ensured that the final score remained 3 - 2.  A good win for Highdown Saints and emotional victory for their manager.

Highdown Saints U12's 3 - Selsey Seals 3

Having played Selsey Seals at home last weekend and just won 3 - 2, we knew that this week's fixture against the same opposition but away was going to be tough.  Selsey Seals came out all guns blazing and within 1 minute had lobbed the ball over the defence for a forward to get on to the end of and to slot the ball past the goalkeeper and in to the Highdown Saints net.  0 - 1.  Having now woken up Highdown Saints started to string together some passes and 10 mins later a great pass by Ellis Fuller found Rory K who made sure that he scored from his shot.  1 - 1.  Bradley Fletcher and Ben Reed started to dominate the midfield and feed through the ball to the HDS forwards.  A neat flick from Ben found Connor Murray who placed the ball past the SS GK to make it 2 - 1.  Bradley also linked well with Connor but this time Connor's shot went over the top of the goal.  SS soon responded when a tight angled shot went past the reach of Jamie Lewis in the HDS goal.  2 - 2.  5 mins from half time and a casual Rory lob went over the top of the SS GK and in to the net.  3 - 2.

In the second half the defence of Ellis, Dan Timblick, Grant Holdaway and Alan Ahmet worked hard and all made telling tackles to thwart the SS forwards.  Tyler Widdows we're going to nick name 'Terrier Tyler' as he chased after every ball in the midfield, hassled the SS players and never gave up.  Ben made some excellent passes and when needed went back to help the defence.  Ricardo Demau made an impressive debut and fitted well in to the team.  10 mins from full time an offside decision was not made and the subsequent SS shot bobbled well and bounced under a diving Jamie to make it 3 - 3.  It looked like Highdown Saints would get another goal as shots by Rory and Connor both drew great saves from the SS GK.  Jack Badman came on as sub to help the midfield but the score remained 3 - 3.

Highdown Saints started their game against Worthing Minors Athletic at a great pace with both Tyler Widdows and Connor Murray forcing the WMA GK to make saves early on.  HDS then allowed WMA to come back in to the game and Jamie Lewis in the HDS goal was forced to make a save on the line.  The rest of the half was very evenly matched with Ellis Fuller, Alan Ahmet, Daniel Timblick and Grant Holdaway stopping any WMA attack and Ben Reed and Bradley Fletcher feeding the HDS forwards.  Just before half time Tyler slid the ball through to Connor who coolly slotted the ball in to the WMA goal.  1 – 0 to HDS.  In the second half HDS passed the ball well with Ben Reed and Rory K seeing their shots go just wide and lobs from Bradley Fletcher and Sam McDonagh putting the WMA GK under pressure.  Ricardo Demou and Dylan de Temple came on for HDS and soon got involved in the game.  5 minutes before the end Jamie found himself 1 on 1 with a WMA forward and just managed to stick his foot out wide to flick the ball away from the goal.  HDS nearly got a second when a great free kick from Bradley and a cracking volley from Tyler were both saved.  1 – 0 to HDS was the final score and a good result for HDS against opposition higher in the league than them.

Highdown Saints attacked right from the start and were rewarded when a cross by Bradley Fletcher was netted into the Felpham Colts Youth goal by one of their defenders. 1 - 0.  The rest of the first half was evenly matched with Jamie Lewis in the HDS goal pulling off a great diving save, Grant Holdaway clearing off the line whilst at the other end Tyler Widdows saw his shot saved by the FCY GK, and Bradley Fletcher's shot went into the side netting.  A neat back heel from Connor Murray found Sam McDonagh who made a run deep in to the FCY half.  A Connor pass to Ben Reed forced a save by the GK and Bradley saw his shot hit the cross bar and rebound back out. For a long time in the second half HDS had plenty of chances but lacked that final touch.  Sam McDonagh worked tirelessly all over the pitch with solid defending by Ricardo Demou, Ellis Fuller, Daniel Timblick and Grant Holdaway.  Having decided that they couldn't score with their feet a cross by Sam was expertly headed in to the FCY goal by Rory K and this seemed to open the way for HDS.  2 - 0.  Having been unlucky to score when 2 goal kicks went through to him, Connor received the ball from Tyler and this time there was no mistaking where the ball was going to end up.  3 - 0.  Growing in confidence defender Ellis also ventured up and had a shot go just wide.  Ollie Bruton came on and slotted well in to midfield.  A lovely through ball lob from Bradley to Connor made it 4 - 0 and this was the final score.  Another clean sheet for the HDS defence and their recent unbeaten run continues.

After a run of 5 games without a defeat, this loss was a disappointment to the team and supporters.  The Easter break seemed to take it's toll as for the first 15 mins HDS were hardly in the game and soon found themselves 0 - 1 down when Jamie Lewis in the HDS goal was unable to keep a Felpham Colts free kick out of the goal.  Sam McDonagh kept on battling in the midfield with Ellis Fuller making some important defensive headed clearances.  Just before half time Tyler Widdows slipped the ball to Connor Murray whose shot came out off the post but like any good forward, he was there to slot the rebound in to make it 1 - 1.  Ben Reed made some very crucial interceptions and Connor was unlucky not to score a second when after receiving the ball via a nice flick from Bradley Fletcher he took his time, took the ball round the GK only to see his flick hit the crossbar.  Shortly after the start of the second half HDS found themselves 1 - 2 down when another Felpham Colts free kick went over the HDS defence and in to the goal.  HDS stepped up a gear and the defence of Ellis, Daniel Timblick, Ricardo Demou, Dylan de Temple (Alan Ahmet) cut out most of the Felpham Colts attacks.  The midfield and forwards combined well with Connor testing the Felpham Colts GK on a number of occasions and Rory K and Ellis both seeing shots go just wide.  Despite all this pressure it was Felpham Colts who scored and secured the match when a stunning volley out of nowhere flew in to the HDS goal to make it 1 - 3.

It was PYB who threatened first forcing Jamie Lewis in the HDS goal to make a great save.  HDS then piled on the pressure with Rory K having his shot saved, Bradley Fletcher hitting the cross bar and Connor Murray forcing a save.  Jack Badman helped the defence out on more that one occasion.  The breakthrough came when a Jamie goal kick from Connor who passed to Sam McDonagh who ran at the defence with the ball and then saw his great strike go in.  1 – 0.  In the first minute of the second half Tyler Widdows forced the PYB to make a good save and Sam McDonagh caused the PYB defence lots of problems with some great running and crosses.  Strong defending by Ellis Fuller kept the HDS lead safe.  The second goal came when from the edge of the box a strike from Tyler Widdows flew in to the top right hand corner of the PYB goal.  2 – 0.  HDS were unlucky not to get more goals as they had lots of chances but the final score remained 2 – 0.

Highdown Saints U12 2 - Felpham Colts 1

When these 2 teams met less than 2 weeks previously, Felpham Colts won 3 – 1 and so Highdown Saints were geared up for revenge right from the start and didn’t disappoint.  5 minutes in a great pass from Dylan de Temple caused the FC GK and Connor Murray to race to get to the ball first and when Connor did he was then able to place the ball past the GK and in to the FC goal.  1 – 0.  10 mins later it was a pass this time from Grant Holdaway to Connor who rounded the FC GK and slotted the ball home.  2 – 0 and a dream start.  Towards the end of the first half a FC long shot bounced past Jamie Lewis in the HDS goal to make it 2 – 1.  The second half was a real battle with both teams giving 100%.  Connor hit the post and a great cross from Sam  McDonagh found Connor’s head but his shot went just over the cross bar.  It was a relief when the final whistle blew but a great win and team performance.

Highdown Saints U12 6 - Worthing Town Youth B 1

A great result, a great team performance and a great end to the season for the U12's.

HDS threatened early on when Rory K put a through ball to Connor Murray who was just beaten to it by the WTYB defence.  A shot from Bradley Fletcher forced the WTYB GK to make a save by kicking the ball clear.  Fortunately the ball only made it to Rory K who calmly lobbed the ball over the GK and in to the back of the net.  1 - 0.  Jack Badman latched on to a corner and saw his shot just go over the top of the crossbar.  It was Jack again who won the ball back from a defender, passed to Tyler who neatly slotted it home to make it 2 - 0.  A nice touch from Bradley to Connor Murray who took on the WTYB defence and scored from a tight angle.  3 - 0. The midfield was controlled by Bradley and Ben Reed, ably helped by Dylan de Temple.  In the 2nd half the HDS defence of Alan Ahmet, Ellis Fuller, Grant Holdaway and Daniel Timblick were rarely troubled with the midfield winning most balls and expertly passing them through to the forwards. A long goal kick from Jamie Lewis found Rory K who passed to Connor whose shot screamed in to the top left hand corner of the goal.  4 - 0.  WTYB pulled a goal back from a free kick but HDS quickly responded when a Sam McDonagh corner was fumbled by the WTYB GK and although the ball had already crossed the line Ellis Fuller was on hand to make sure that it hit the back of the net.  5 - 1.  Feeling confident Connor had a long range shot which rattled the cross bar but he did not have to wait much longer to get his hatrick when Ellis flicked on a corner to him to slot the ball home.  6 - 1.
