Highdown Saints in Ethiopia. (November 10, 2006)
Paul Sanderson MBE and his son, Zack, have just returned from Ethiopia where they took along some of our old kit. Paul is a big supporter of Highdown Saints as well as being Southern Regional Development Manager for Spurgeons Child Care and The Salvation Army. Zack, who fully funded his own trip, is an ex-Saints player, and his younger brother Levi, plays for our under 9's. Paul is also well known for his work with The Wire Project.
Both Paul and Zack are big West Ham fans (and there was you thinking what nice guys they were!!) so it didn't take them long to organise a match for the local lads. Wearing their new kits the ensuing game ended in a victory for the Saints.... international success already! Paul thanked the Club on behalf of the kids for the kits. It is unbelievable what a small thing like old kits means to these children. Paul plans to return next September so look out for details of how you can help. In the meantime please use this link, www.cred.org.uk/html/IDHUP.html to find out more about their work.
Take a look at the photos below... anyone fancy an away match?
