U11 Fulham Trip 4 March 2006 (March 04, 2006)
The U11 squad travelled to the Premiership fixture between Fulham and Arsenal at Craven Cottage on Saturday 4 March. It was a noisy journey (especially for those near the back of the coach) as everybody was in high spirits in anticipation of the afternoon to come. Upon arriving at the ground, the boys spent a lot of time collecting autographs as the Fulham team arrived, managed to be involved in a recording for the Fulham website and annoy the Fulham mascot Billy the Bear. Daniel was on a retainer to nobble Thierry Henry when he got off the coach, but like the Fulham defence, got nowhere near him. Everyone was seated in time to see Arsenal plunder two first half goals, and as half time approached the kit was donned and everyone was ready for their big moment. The boys were performing in front of the Fulham end and had to run from the half way line, shoot and score. A good number of boys scored and the keepers made some saves but special mention must be made of one celebration after scoring, when a certain individual ran off towards the corner flag, took off his Highdown shirt to reveal his Pompey kit and receive more boos than the referee!
The boys greatly enjoyed their time on the pitch and for some it was the only interest of the second half as Fulham didn't come back out and Arsenal ran out 4-0 winners. Don't worry Jeff the next home game is only Chelsea! (and look what happened there - Ed ...!)
The attendance on the day was 22,397.
A big thank you to Jeff Slade (who else) for providing the opportunity and photos and to Tony & Cheryl for organising the day.
